Picked up the Jamis Trail X A1 for local singletrack and it has been a solid, no-fuss hardtail. The 6061 aluminum frame feels light enough to climb without wearing me out, and the SR Suntour XCT 30 HLO fork with hydraulic lockout is handy on smooth fire-road sections. The microSHIFT Advent 9-speed drivetrain shifts reliably, and the Shimano MT200 hydraulic disc brakes give good, predictable stopping power. Alex TD26 rims with alloy disc hubs have stayed true so far. The Jamis saddle and XC bar are comfortable enough for longer rides. Not the lightest setup, but great value for a beginner or anyone wanting a dependable trail bike.
