I ride a mix of pavement and dirt around Park City, so the Smart Sam seemed like a good compromise and it mostly is. The dense center lugs roll smoothly on the road with very little vibration, and the edged outer blocks still bite well when I hit gravel or loose dirt. Durability has been solid so far, and the puncture protection gives me some peace of mind on rough stretches. It is not a pure race tire, but for someone who switches surfaces often it does the job well.
